Fact Check: Have ‘Kalki 2’ Makers Dropped Deepika Padukone For Her ‘8-Hour Shift’ Demand?

Mumbai: After her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Spirit’, there’s a buzz that new mom Deepika Padukone might be dropped from Prabhas-starrer ‘Kalki 2’ also.

According to a report in Bollywood.mobi, Deepika’s demand for ‘shorter work hours’ is causing ‘friction’ on the sets of ‘Kalki 2’, and so the makers are considering dropping her from the film.

However, sources close to the film’s makers have rubbished the report, calling it “completely baseless.”

According to sources, ‘Kalki 2’ is still in the pre-production phase and hasn’t begun filming yet.

“They haven’t even approached actors because it’s still in development,” a source was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Another insider pointed out, “There’s been no shoot, no interaction, and therefore, no fallout.”

For the unversed, Deepika was apparently dropped from Vanga’s ‘Spirit’ due to her unprofessional demands, including 8-hour work shift and high remuneration.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Sandeep Reddy Vanga got the shock of his life when Deepika Padukone refused to shoot for more than 6 hours a day for Spirit. That’s not all, the actress, via her agency, also started to demand an amendment to the contract. Their point of contention was simple – if the shoot extends beyond 100 days, Deepika will have to be paid extra for every single day of shoot beyond the commitment on paper.”

Following Deepika’s exit, Vanga announced Triptii Dimri as the film’s new female lead.
