New Delhi: Are there serious differences between Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra?
Such questions arose after Priyanka said she had to skip the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra (BJNY), which entered Uttar Pradesh on Friday, because of health issues for which she was admitted to a hospital.
Even though Priyanka explained in a post on X that she regretted not being able to “receive the BJNY in UP today,” and hoped to be there as soon as she was better, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that Priyanka’s absence at Rahul’s yatra was a result of their “irreconcilable rift” over the ownership of Congress party.
The saffron party also pointed out that Sonia wasn’t present when Rahul started the yatra from Manipur on January 14.
“Everyone should take care of their health. Even when Yatra 2.0 started, Priyanka Vadra was missing from there, and today when Rahul’s Yatra has reached Uttar Pradesh, even then Priyanka will not be there. This irreconcilable rift between brothers and sisters for ownership of the party is now well known,” BJP IT cell head and party spokesperson Amit Malviya claimed.
It remains to be seen if Priyanka enters the election fray for the first time in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Priyanka and Sonia’s mother Sonia Gandhi won’t be contesting the Lok Sabha polls, as she is seeking to be a Rajya Sabha member for the first time, from Rajasthan.
The Raebareli seat, which has been the Gandhi family’s stronghold over the years, has fallen vacant and it remains to be seen if Priyanka is given a ticket.
That could give a clear pointer to how the grand old party, including Rahul, is looking at Priyanka’s future as a serious politician.
