A photograph showing an aerial view of a massive complex, claiming to be a 6,000-bed COVID-19 care centre built by the RSS in Indore, has gone viral on social media. The photograph is accompanied by the caption: “2nd largest Covid care center in India. RSS has built 6000-bed Covid care centre and 4 oxygen plants in 45 acres of land in Indore”.
In reality, the photograph is that of a football stadium, named Al Bayt, in Qatar. This is one of the venues which will host matches of next year’s FIFA World Cup.
The 6,000-bed COVID care centre in Indore is situated in the community satsang complex of Radha Soami Satsang Beas. RSS has not directly funded the centre, its members have volunteered to set it up. Currently, the capacity is 600. It will be scaled up to 6,000.
The centre is called ‘Maa Ahilya Covid Care Centre’.
A spokesperson of Radha Soami Satsang Beas told India Today that there is no link between the RSS and Radha Soami Satsang Beas.
