Mumbai: If a man from Tamil Nadu is to be believed, he was denied entry to one of the One8 Commune restaurants, a chain owned by cricketing superstar Virat Kohli.
In a viral video, a man in black glasses claims that he was not allowed to enter the restaurant in Juhu because of his outfit.
He is seen wearing a veshti – a white unstitched cloth wrap tied in the waist which is worn mainly in Tamil Nadu – paired with a white shirt.
The man, whose identity couldn’t be ascertained, is heard saying that he checked into JW Marriott hotel after landing in Mumbai. Without wasting time, he went to visit One8 Commune’s Juhu branch.
However, the restaurant staff didn’t even let him step inside. He claimed the staff told him his outfit was not in accordance with the restaurant’s dress code.

The video has garnered over 1.5 million views since being posted on Saturday.
It triggered mixed reactions among netizens.
Some opined that the refusal didn’t have anything to do with the man’s culture, while others took offence to the restaurant’s action.
“It’s nothing against your culture.. they have denied me entry in shorts and slippers because it’s their dress code which has to be followed to enter.. whether to have a code or not can be a topic of debate.. but don’t make it a topic of ‘being against culture’,” one user wrote.
“Virat is not responsible for what happened, the staff present there at that time is responsible. This problem could have been solved by informing the manager there but then how do you get reach on social media,” was another user’s reaction.
