Jajpur: As many as 17 teachers and a Block Education Officer (BEO) face the charge of producing fake caste certificate to get appointment in the district.
According to sources, the district administration has submitted a list of 18 persons, who have been appointed to government posts by producing false caste certificates, to the office of Revenue Divisional Commissioner. Their document are undergoing verification, the sources said.
All the persons belong to Asanajhar panchayat under Koeri block. Their names came to light after the RDC ordered a detailed investigation into fake caste certificate case of a man and his sister who were also serving as teachers in the district.
The two persons, identified as Manas Nayak, who was a teacher of Pachhikot High School and his sister Jyotsna Nayak, a teacher of UP School at Tarapada in Korei block. Following allegation that they had got appointment after producing fake caste certificate, district administration had ordered an investigation.
As the probe confirmed the allegation, they were suspended from service on the order of the RDC. In order to unearth the racket, the RDC had ordered a detailed investigation.
