Fake CBI Officer Arrested For Duping Youths On Plea Of Employment In Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: Police have arrested a person for duping youths of more than Rs 2 lakh on the plea of providing jobs in the Indian Railways in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

According to sources, the accused, identified as Umesh Tanti of Pandaridhipa under Sundargarh Town police limits, introduced himself as an officer in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to four victims. The youths including three girls belong to Subdega Tangargaon in the district.

Tanti promised the job-seekers of employing them in the posts of nurses and others in the Railways with his connections at high places. But he demanded Rs 5 lakh from each person for the purpose.

He also took around Rs 50,000 from each youth as first instalment. When there was no further development in the promised employment, the four youths realised that they had been duped.

They filed a complaint against Tanti in Sundargarh Town police station. After registering a case, the police arrested the fake CBI officer on Friday.
