Cuttack: Police on Thursday unearthed a spurious cement manufacturing unit at Jagatpur in Cuttack district.
The owner of the unit identified as Sadashiv Behera has been arrested.
More than 700 packets of white cement worth lakhs of rupees kept in the factory and equipment used in manufacturing of the cement have been seized.
“The owner of the unit used to manufacture the cement by mixing marble particles and other chemicals with it. He used to sell the same in the local market by packing it in bags with labels of 15 different reputed companies,” a police officer informed.
Earlier, another fake cement manufacturing factory was busted in the same area. Besides, other units manufacturing adulterated edible oil and ghee were also unearthed by police in the recent past.
