Malkangiri: A fake Scheduled Tribe certificate cost a woman her government job.
The woman, Laxmipriya Behera, who was working as a senior clerk in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, has worked for 24 years after she got the job by allegedly submitting a fake ST certificate.
Malkangiri Collector Yeddula Vijay dismissed Laxmipriya from service after a probe by Southern Revenue Commissioner revealed the allegation to be true.
The probe revealed that Laxmipriya, who belongs to SEBC, had married a man of ST community and applied for ST certificate on the basis of her husband’s identity.
The then Junagarh Tehsildar had issued her an ST certificate following which she secured the government job using the certificate.
