Rayagada: Police on Thursday seized fake currency notes worth Rs 10, 000 from three persons in Rayagada.
The trio was identified as Dashmant Jena, his son Ranjan Jena of Kolnara village and Rajkumar Pani, a resident of Putasingh village.
The accused persons were attempting to circulate the fake notes during Chaitra Mela at Jinjalibadi village under Chandil police station limits in the district. Noticing their suspicious behaviour, members of the local village committee had detained these persons and informed the police.
Following which, police took them to the custody and seized the fake currency in Rs 500 denomination notes.
All the three persons were produced before the court. Efforts are on to trace and nab other people involved in the racket, police sources said.
