Dhenkanal: A ‘fake’ doctor, who had been prescribing medicines to patients for the last several years, was arrested in Kankadahada area of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
The man, identified as Rakesh Biswas from Kolkata, was running a clinic and cheating patients in the name of providing health care services in Kankadahada block of the district, sources said.
Despite having no medical degree or certificate, the man was not only providing medical treatment to patients. Apart from prescribing and providing medicines, he was also administering injections to the patients for the last five years.
It was also claimed that the ‘fake’ doctor even tried to bribe media persons when they reached his clinic to gather information after learning about the episode. He was unable to give satisfactory reply when asked about his qualification. He was reportedly found to have passed Plus II examination, sources said.
On being informed, a team led by Inspector In-Charge of Kankadakada police station (IIC) Kalpana Behera reached the clinic and took Rakesh into custody. Further probe is underway.
