Fake Doctor ‘Molests’ Woman Patient In Odisha, Arrested

Kendrapada: A youth was arrested on Monday for allegedly molesting a woman patient admitted at the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Aul In Odisha’s Kendrapada district by impersonating a doctor.

The accused has been identified as Dipak Mohanty from Bada Ambila village.

According to sources, a middle-aged woman from Aragala Sasan village was admitted to the Aul CHC after she complained of loose motion and vomiting. Dipak visited the ward at 11.30 pm last night after the doctor had conducted the round and allegedly groped the woman on the pretext of conducting a check-up. He fled the spot when the patient and her husband objected to it.

The Aul police later arrested him from his village after checking the CCTV footage of the hospital on the basis of a complaint lodged by her husband and the hospital authorities.

Medical In-Charge of Aul CHC Shweta Nayak that many people are getting admitted to the hospital for diarrhoea and it is difficult to identify who is an attendant of a patient and who is an outsider. “He told them that I had sent him to ‘check’ her condition. They got suspicious when he asked the patient’s husband to move out of the room,” she added.

Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of Aul police station Salil Pradhan said that two teams were formed to nab the accused. “A case has been registered under IPC Sections 170, 419/420, 376/294, 506 and he has been forwarded to a court,” he added.
