Kolkata: Sourav Ganguly’s wife Dona Ganguly has lodged a police complaint about a fake Facebook page in her name.
According to a police officer investigating the case, a number of photographs of the former India captain and current BCCI president with his wife and daughter Sana were posted in the fake account.
“We are probing the matter to find out who’s behind it. We will soon nab the culprit,” the officer said. He further informed that the IP (internet protocol) address used to create the Facebook profile has already been identified.
Dona, a noted Odissi dancer, came to know of the fake Facebook page from one of her students.
“Yes, a page using my name and Dada’s (Sourav) photos has been created on Facebook. I was informed by one of my students about this. We have lodged a complaint with the police,” Dona was quoted as saying by PTI.
“At times people post remarks which others start thinking as ours, creating confusion which I don’t want to happen. Hopefully, police will help me close this fake account,” Dona added.
Her original Facebook account has 34K followers, but the fake one has already attracted over 70,000 followers.
