Bhubaneswar: Police bust an inter-state racket engaged in selling duplicate gold chains and arrested two persons in this connection on Saturday. Duplicate gold chains weighing around two kg have been recovered from them.
Sahid Nagar police said the Chhattisgarh-based conduits were running the duplicate gold business from a hideout in the city. Police raided the hideout on a tip-off and nabbed them while they were striking a deal to sell duplicate gold chains at Rs 20 lakh in the market.
ACP Sanjeev Satpathy said fraudsters target gullible jewellery store owners and buyers to sell their duplicate products. Chhattisgarh cops have also intensified search for the fraudsters who are running an organised business, he added.
