Bhubaneswar: BJP state vice-president Sameer Mohanty has sought more time to depose before the Kharavela Nagar police in connection with the fake intelligence report on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s candidature from Hinjili.
His letter, sent through his lawyer, said: “I undertake that I will appear before you and answer all questions put forth by you after the elections.”
On April 20, the Commissionerate Police had served a notice on three senior BJP leaders – Sameer Mohanty, BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president Tankadhar Tripathy. An FIR has also been lodged at the Kharavela Nagar police station in this connection.
The BJP leaders had claimed that Naveen decided to file his nomination from Bijepur Assembly seat after an intelligence report warned him about dwindling support in Hinjili.
The Commissionerate Police had dubbed the report as “false” and “fabricated”.
