Fake Journalist Held After Seizure Of Ganja, Cough Syrup & Cash During Raid In Odisha’s Sonepur



Sonepur: A huge quantity of ganja, cough syrup and cash was seized by the police during raid at the house of a man, who moved around with ‘press’ stickers on vehicles, in Odisha’s Sonepur district on Tuesday.

d in Patabhadi. Police recovered 164 bottles of cough syrup, 2.8 kg of ganja, cash to the tune of Rs 5.5 lakh, a branded air pistol, online payment scanners and a weighing machine during the raid.

Police sources said Mishra moved around using motorcycles and cars carrying ‘Press’ stickers though he was not engaged in any recognised journalistic work. During the search, also seized a boom microphone and an identity card bearing the name ‘Suchana Media’ from the house.

The ganja was weighed and the cough syrup bottles were counted in the presence of a magistrate. The raid was supervised by senior police officials.

Police said the seized air pistol, manufactured by a reputed company, could potentially pose a serious threat. The pistol would be sent for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation, they said.

Mishra was being interrogated in connection with the seizure and further investigation is in progress.
