Titlagarh: The Government Railway Police (GRP) seized fake Indian currency notes with face value of Rs 4.68 lakh from a person, travelling in Hatia-Yesvantpur Express train, near Titlagarh station in Balangir district on Tuesday night.
The accused was identified as Ramachandra Bhoi, a native of Bhatli in Bargarh district.
According to sources, Bhoi had an argument with a CRPF jawan travelling in the same compartment with him. Suspecting foul play over his suspicious behaviour, the jawan struck a conversation with him. When he inquired about a bag Bhio was carrying, the latter attacked him with a knife and tried to flee.
The jawan, who sustained grievous injuries, informed the matter to the police, who searched Bhoi’s bag and found fake notes in the denomination of Rs 50, 100,200 and 2000.
Later, GRP officials detained the accused and started investigation into the incident.
