Fake Rs 2000 Notes Deposited In Bank ATM In Cuttack, Accused Held

Cuttack: Police on Wednesday arrested one Satyajit Panda for allegedly depositing fake currency notes worth Rs 1.6 lakh in an ATM cash deposit machine at CDA Sector 6 in Cuttack.

He was apprehended after the Branch Manager of SBI, Bidanasi branch, Debakanta Naik lodged a complaint in this regard on January 20. He alleged that someone had deposited 53 counterfeit notes of Rs 2000 face value amounting to Rs 1.6 lakh on January 17.

Acting on the complaint, police investigated the matter and apprehended the accused, who is a resident of Sector 8, CDA.

Further probe is on, sources said.
