Families Of Cops Who Die Of COVID-19 To Get Full Salary: Odisha DGP

Bhubaneswar: In a relief to the families of police personnel who died of COVID-19 in the state, the government will pay full salary to them till the time of the victim’s retirement.

Informing this at a video-conference held with district SPs, Range DIGs and IGs and DCPs on Tuesday, DGP Abhay said besides the salary, compensation will be provided to families of the deceased cops as per the government’s announcement. As many as 20 police personnel have died of the disease in the state so far.

Reviewing the COVID situation in the state, the DGP discussed the enforcement of the regulations and welfare measures for police, including payment of ex gratia.

The DGP also asked district police officers to intensify operation against ganja cultivation and smuggling.

The promotion of constables, capacity building for cyber crimes, temporary Beat House and Outposts, prompt response from districts in the High Court matters, rationalising use of OSAP and pending NHRC matters also featured in the discussion.
