Family Affair: Gautam Adani’s Brother Is Richest NRI; Who Is Vinod Adani?

Dubai: It runs in the family. Indeed, the Adanis have business and wealth in their blood.

Vinod Shantilal Adani, elder brother of Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani, has become the richest non-resident Indian (NRI), according to IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022.

Vinod Adani is also the sixth-richest Indian with a wealth of Rs 1.69 lakh crore, a list topped by Gautam Adani (Rs 10,94,400 crore).

Following Vinod Adani closely are the Hinduja brothers in richest NRI list, with a wealth of Rs 1.65 lakh crore.

Not many know Vinod Adani well.

He launched a textile business in Mumbai in 1976 and expanded it in Singapore a few years later. Vinod moved to Dubai in 1994 and has been based there since then, building his business in the Middle East and spreading to Far East also.

Vinod is obviously a jolly good businessman as he added Rs 37,400 crore to his wealth in the last year. While Gautam Adani and family’s wealth saw a spike of 15.4 times in last five years, Vinod’s family got richer by 9.5 times during the same period of time.
