Bhubaneswar: Family of an ex-serviceman, who allegedly died by suicide in Bhubaneswar, levelled allegations of a cover-up against police on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Anil Chotray, was staying in Nuasahi under Nayapalli police limits in the Odisha capital and according to cops, he died three days back.
Chotray was a native of Banapur in Khurda district, police sources said.
While police registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for autopsy, the family of Chotray raised objections on procedures followed.
One of the relatives of the deceased said the family received information about Chotray’s death very late.
“I had called his house owner who did not respond. I had sent a cousin to check on Anil but he found the house locked. If the door was locked from outside, how could he commit suicide? My sister-in-law, her relatives and a few others have killed him,” he alleged.
Local police was however tight-lipped on the matter, while sources said a probe has been initiated in this case.
