Family Dispute Leads Youth To ‘Murder’ Elder Brother In Odisha’s Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: A minor family dispute led to a gory end as a youth allegedly killed his elder brother in Kalahandi district on Sunday.

According to sources, Maradev Takaria was engaged in an argument with his elder brother Ghasiram Takaria over some petty matters in their house at Pandi village under Bhawanipatna Sadar police limits. As argument escalated, an heated exchange of words ensued between the two bothers.

In a fit of rage, Maradev attacked his elder brother with an axe. Ghasiram, who sustained grievous injury on his neck in the attack, started bleeding profusely. He succumbed on the spot after some time.

Maradev’s wife, who tried to stop her husband from attaching Ghasiram, also sustained injuries. She has been admitted to district headquarters hospital at Bhawanipatna.

On being informed, police reached the village, registered a case and sent Ghasiram’s body for post-mortem. The police have also detained Maradev and were questioning him.
