Family Disputes Surface After Teen’s Suspicious Hanging Death In Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: A second-year Plus III Commerce student was found hanging inside the bathroom of his family home at Charampa Bazar under Bhadrak Town police limits on Thursday morning, triggering shock, grief, and allegations of foul play.

According to family members, the 19-year-old had gone for a morning walk early on Thursday as usual. He returned home and spent some time interacting with his father and other family members before suddenly disappearing. Concerned family members began searching the house and around 6:30 am, his mother allege

dly found him hanging inside the toilet with hands tied behind his back and a cloth across his mouth.

“A cloth was tied around his mouth in a manner that would cause suffocation. His hands were tied behind his back and he was hanging from a towel tied to a rod inside the bathroom. He was killed in a carefully orchestrated conspiracy,” his father told a local news channel, while emphasising that neither he nor his son had any known enmity with anyone.

However, the aunt of the deceased alleged involvement of family members and locals in his death. “My sister’s two elder sons have gone to Bhubaneswar in search of work. They had internal disputes within the extended family. They, along with locals, murdered this young and innocent boy. We want justice,” she said.

Bhadrak Town police arrived at the house and recovered the body for postmortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation is underway.
