Koraput: A day after an accident claimed lives of 11 wedding revellers, a couple and their 5-year-old child were killed when the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a tanker truck on NH-26 near Pungar village under Pottangi police limits in Odisha’s Koraput district on Tuesday morning.
The identities of the deceased are yet to ascertained.
According to sources, the accident took place when the family was travelling from Baipariguda to Visakhapatnam. The three died on the spot under the impact of the collision. The car was badly damaged in the accident.
On being informed, Pottangi police reached the place and recovered the bodies for postmortem. An investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the locals detained the tanker and its driver. Movement of vehicles on this stretch of the highway was affected due to the mishap.
