Family Thrashed, Tied Up During Armed Robbery In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: Robbers struck at a house at Banagadia village under Semulia police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district and decamped with valuables worth around Rs 20 lakh late on Sunday.

According to sources, the loot was reported from the house of one Ananda Behera. The six robbers, including a minor aged around 12-13 years, entered the house by breaking open the door and thrashed the family members, who had woken up to the loud sound at around 2 am, and tied them up. His younger son, Ratikant Behera, also sustained injuries after being attacked with sharp weapons.

The miscreants looted Rs 8.40 lakh in cash and gold jewellery, including a mangalsutra, two necklaces, a few gold rings, two lockets and a chain.

Meanwhile, Ratikant was rushed to a hospital at Semulai and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.

Sources further stated that there was another loot attempt at a mobile shop near Markona Chhak in the same locality. However, locals managed to catch three of the miscreants and handed them over to Simulia Police, which had launched an investigation into the two theft cases.
