Bhubaneswar: Noted playwright, story writer, novelist and translator Kunja Ray passed away in the city on Friday. He was 76.
Ray had gained popularity as a playwright after his play ‘Nayaka Chandrasena’ was broadcast in radio.
His other popular plays included ‘Agni Snana’, ‘Keun Nai Muhana Re’, ‘Kalantara’, ‘Bidaya Bajraditya’, ‘Anusrujana Trayee’ and ‘Karmayogi’.
Ray was a recipient of Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi award, Sahitya Akademi award, Natyakara Ramachandra Sammana, Utkal Sahitya Samaja Sammana and many more.
He had also worked in the AG office from 1970 to 2004.
His last rites were performed at Swarga Dwara in Puri on Friday.
