Mumbai: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is facing backlash for his alleged racist remarks for Telugu star Ram Charan at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding event.
Ram Charan and his wife Upasana’s makeup artist, Zeba Hassan, claimed that she left the event after the incident.
Sharing a video on her Instagram story, she expressed her dismay over how SRK extended the invitation to the ‘RRR’ star and the subsequent ‘idli vada’ remark. She said that it had hurt her feelings. “I walked out after this. So disrespectful towards a star like @alwaysramcharan,” she wrote.
She further commented: “I’m a huge SRK fan but I really disliked the way he called Ram Charan on stage.”
On the second day of the event, Salman, Shah Rukh, and Aamir took the stage together and began their performance by attempting the hook step of the RRR song ‘Naatu Naatu’. While calling Ram on-stage to show them how to do the step, SRK playfully started speaking gibberish, including the word “idli”.
Eventually, Ram Charan joined the trio on stage, and together, they all executed the song’s hook step.
While some social media users criticised the Bollywood star for his alleged inappropriate comments, others countered these allegations, suggesting that his remarks were reminiscent of his dialogues from one of his earlier films, ‘One 2 Ka 4’, indicating that it might have been intended humorously. Some users also pointed out how the baadshaah of Bollywood bowed to Ram Charan as he got up on the stage, even though the former is a senior actor.
