Farhan Akhtar Slams Twitterati For Linking PM Modi To Asaram Bapu

Mumbai: Hours after self-styled godman Asaram Bapu was convicted of rape by the Jodhpur Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Court, people on social started condemning Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking about his associations with him.
Videos and old pictures of PM Modi with the rape convict were used to accuse and shame him.

Among them was senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan, who not only tried proving PM having links with Asaram Bapu but also accused him of popularizing and patronizing the rape convict.

Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar, however, is of a different opinion. He took to twitter and slammed everyone accusing PM Modi. He wrote, “So, Asaram is a child rapist. And he has been found guilty. Good. But can people please stop sharing images of him with PM Modi. Patronising him before he was exposed to be a pervert is no crime. Let’s be fair and give him the benefit of doubt that he, like us, did not know.”

Prime Minister had, previously, clarified that he has no links with Asaram Bapu anymore and also asked BJP workers not to defend him, back in 2013 as Gujarat Chief Minister when the self-styled godman was accused of rape.
