Dhenkanal: With heatwave gripping Odisha, a farmer reportedly died of sunstroke in Dhenkanal district on Sunday.
According to sources, the farmer, identified as Bidyadhar Dehuri of Sabhar Sahi in Basoi village under Parjan police station in the district, had gone to a field near his house to attend to nature’s call at around 2 pm. But he fell down unconscious in the field.
As Bidyadhar did not return home for a long time, his family members along with villagers went in search of him. After a long search, they finally found him unconscious in the field. They rushed him to community health centre (CHC) at Parjang.
But the doctors declared him brought dead. They suspected him to have died of sunstroke.
On being informed, police reached the hospital and sent the body for post-mortem. The exact cause of death would be known after getting the post-mortem report, the police sources said.
It may be noted that as many as 15 places in the state record day temperature of 42 degree Celsius or more on Monday. Dhenkanal registered maximum temperature of 39.1 degree Celsius.
