Farmer Electrocuted To Death In Odisha’s Kalahandi

Kalahandi: In a tragic incident, a young farmer of  Kutru Chhak under Kalampur block in Odisha’s Kalahandi district was electrocuted to death after he accidentally came in contact with a 33 KV wire while working on his farmland on Monday.

The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Shyama Sundar.

According to sources, a part of the wire that stretched across to the nearby school had fallen on the farmland. He sustained critical injuries after coming in contact with it.

On getting information, his family members immediately took him to Jayapatana hospital. He, however, died while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, family members and the villagers accused the electricity department of negligence leading to the mishap.

Irate villagers also blocked the road near Kutru Chhak with his body, demanding compensation to the bereaved family.

On the first week of August, another farmer was electrocuted to death after coming in contact with an 11 KV wire in his farmland in the district. The deceased was identified as Kado Teji of Tumara village under Golamunda police limits.
