Nayagarh: Tension ran high at Khalamada village under Nuagaon tehsil of Nayagarh district on Friday after a farmer was electrocuted to death.
The deceased has been identified as Niranjan Pradhan.
Following the incident, a group of villagers including the family member of the deceased farmer gathered near the body and demanded compensation.
They alleged that negligence and carelessness on the part of the local electrical employees in carrying out proper maintenance work led to the death of the person.
According to available information, Niranjan was electrocuted after he stepped on a live electric wire while going to an agricultural field near his house.
