Farmer Killed, Three Injured In Lightning Strike In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: One person was killed and three, including a woman, were injured after being struck by lightning in Cuttack district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Santosh Behera (29), a farmer from Haripur.

According to sources, the farmer and the three others were struck by lightning while working on their farm lands.

They were taken to Tangi government hospital where Behera was declared brought dead. The injured woman was later shifted to a private hospital.

With the formation of a low-pressure area over Bay of Bengal, many parts of Odisha have been experiencing heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the past few days.

Moreover, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over west-central adjoining north Bay of Bengal around August 9.
