New Delhi: Leaders of farmer unions will observe hunger strike on Monday as part of their ongoing agitation against the contentious farm laws.
Gurnam Singh Chaduni, one of the farmer leaders, informed mediapersons at Singhu border that the hunger strike will be observed at different points from 8 am to 5 pm.
Addressing a press conference at the Singhu border, where the farmers have been camping in agitation, Chaduni said the leaders will observe the hunger strike at their respective places.
“Dharnas will also be staged at all district headquarters across the country. The protest will go on as usual,” PTI quoted Chaduni as saying.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that he will also be observing a one-day fast on Monday to show his support to the farmers, who have been protesting at different points of Delhi border since November 26.
Kejriwal urged Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers and supporters to observe the fast as well.
Thousands of farmers have not budged from their demand for withdrawal of the three farm laws which were enacted in September.
