Keonjhar/Khurda/Dhenkanal: Farmers, under the banner of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS), staged a dharna in Keonjhar and Khurda on Sunday in protest against the Odisha government’s apathy towards non-fulfilment of their long-standing price, prestige and pension demands.
In Keonjhar, farmers staged a dharna in front of the Odisha School of Mining Engineering protesting against despatch of electronic voting machines (EVMs) to the polling booths for the third phase polls. They also staged a dharna in front of the office of the sub-collector in Dhenkanal.
In Khurda, the Town Police picked up over 20 agitating farmers as they tried to lock EVM disposal centres inside the premises of the district collector’s office.
