Bargarh: Agitating farmers locked up several government offices in Bargarh district on Friday demanding immediate release of crop insurance money of last year’s Kharif season.
Hundreds of farmers took out a mass rally from Loka Mandap Ground and locked up the tehsil, sub collector and DRDA offices. Holding placards and banners, the farmers shouted anti-government slogans seeking consideration of their demands.
“We have been requesting the district administration to fulfil our five-point charter of demands including release of crop insurance money of last year’s Kharif season and already submitted a memorandum in this regard. But, no heed has been paid by the officials concerned so far”, a protesting farmer said.
The agitation will be extended to other parts of the district, if the administration remains callous towards our issues, the farmer added.
