Jagatsinghpur: Hundreds of farmers under the banner of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan, clashed with police while protesting in front of Jagatsinghpur Collector’s office on Monday.
The scuffle broke out after the agitators attempted to barge into the office of the district collector demanding immediate fulfilment of their demands.
“We have been demanding price, pension and prestige for the farmer community, and also adequate compensation for crop loss. But the state government has ignored our plea. The agitation will be intensified if our demands are not met immediately,” an agitating farmer said.
Several farmers were detained by police following the protest.
