Farmers Set Oct 2 Deadline For Govt To Withdraw Agri Laws

New Delhi: In what sounds like a first of its kind ultimatum, leading farmers’ leader Rakesh Tikait said on Saturday they have given the Union government time till October 2 to repeal the agricultural laws.

On a day when the farmers – who have been protesting against the contentious legislations at different points of the Delhi border since November 26 – staged a three-hour nationwide ‘chakka jam’, Tikait refused to hold discussions with the government under pressure.

“We have given time to the government till 2nd October to repeal the laws. After this, we will do further planning. We won’t hold discussions with the government under pressure,” said Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Tikait.
