Fast Food Owner Attacked For Refusing To Pay Extortion Money In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: A fast food owner was seriously injured after allegedly being attacked by some miscreants over extortion money at Chakeisiani market in Odisha‘s capital on Tuesday evening.

According to sources, four miscreants went to the shop and demanded extortion money from the fast-food owner, identified as Jiban Jyoti Mohanty. When he refused to oblige, they attacked him with several sharp weapons. The locals rushed Jiban to the hospital for immediate treatment.

On being informed, the police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter to nab the culprits.

In a similar incident, some miscreants damaged a bakery shop near Satyanagar Big Bazaar on Sunday evening.

According to the complaint of owner Prabodh Sundaray, six to seven youths came to his shop and took parcels for 30 people. When he asked them to pay for the parcels, they had an argument with Prabodh and left without paying. Later, about 15 people gathered and vandalized the shop and also attacked him with sharp weapons.
