The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Wednesday decided to relax the conditions set for FASTag lanes for 30 days at 65 high cash transactions fee plazas of NHAI.
These plazas have been allowed to keep 25 per cent of the lanes as hybrid (cash plus FASTag) lanes for 30 days.
Most toll plazas have one hybrid lane on each side and there is heavy traffic rush on these, NHAI has pointed out.
As traffic is piling up at the high cash transactions plazas, up to 25 per cent of the lanes are allowed to be converted into hybrid lanes.
Earlier, January 15 was the last date to switch to FASTag.
