Fatal Affairs: Man Kills Minor Niece, Paramours Commit Suicide In Odisha

Balasore: A minor girl was allegedly murdered and a married woman and her brother-in-law committed suicide in two incidents of illicit affairs in Balasore district, police said on Monday.

In the first incident, police on Monday detained the uncle of a seven-year-old girl, whose body was found near a pond at Sundarkoili village under Baliapal police limits, and his paramour for allegedly murdering her.

Police said the minor had caught her uncle, Deepak Sahu, in a compromising position with his sister-in-law. To conceal their affair, the two then murdered the girl by slitting her throat and dumped her body under a bush near the pond.

The girl’s body was found on Monday morning. She had been missing since Friday.

Police are currently questioning Deepak and his paramour.

In another shocking incident, a 26-year-old married woman, Varsha Singh, and her brother-in-law, Rakesh Singh, committed suicide during a video call on Sunday night. The two were allegedly involved in an extramarital affair.

According to reports, Varsha’s husband Manas Kumar Singh (29) worked in a private company in Pune, while she resided at her marital home at Mulida Bazaar under Basta police limits.

She allegedly developed an affair with Rakesh, a cousin of her husband. As the family members came to know about their relationship, they forced Rakesh to go to Pune.

However, Varsha and Rakesh kept in touch over phone and video calls. Unable to bear their physical separation, the two hanged themselves in a suicide pact during a video call on Sunday night, police said.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
