Bhubaneswar: A youth was hacked to death in a group clash in the city’s Airfield police area on Diwali night on Sunday.
Police identified the deceased as Amaresh Nayak.
According to witnesses, two groups of youth had an altercation over the place they planned to burst firecrackers and have a feast. Later, the incident turned violent as one of the groups attacked the others with sharp weapons. Nayak was killed on the spot.
Police said the deceased’s family has lodged a complaint against 20 persons and they have started an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
