Nuapada: A man and his daughter died of drowning in a pond at Salaveta village in Nuapada district on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Rohit Majhi and his five-year-old daughter Devika.
According to sources, Devika was taking bath in the pond at around 11 am today, while his father was sitting nearby.
Devika drowned in the pond. Hearing her screaming, her father jumped into the water to rescue her. But both father and daughter drowned in the pond.
Rohit’s family members noticed his towel and a shoe near the pond and searched for the father and daughter.
Later, their bodies were found from the pond, said sources.
