Badaun (UP): In an absolutely repulsive incident, a father of five girls allegedly slit open the stomach of his seven-month pregnant wife to find out the gender of their sixth child.
Identified as Pannalal, the 35-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun got hold of a sharp-edged weapon on Saturday night and indulged in the gruesome act at Civil Lines police station area.
The grievously injured woman was rushed to a Bareilly hospital, PTI has reported.
SP (City) Pravin Singh Chauhan informed that an FIR has been lodged and the husband taken into custody.
According to family members of the woman, Pannalal had wanted a son, to follow five daughters, and committed the crime to check whether his wife was carrying a male or female foetus.
