Bhubaneswar: The three brothers from Bomikhal in Bhubaneswar, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, could have contracted the infection from their father.
“The father, who stays in Bhopal, has also tested positive for the virus,” Bhubaneswar Municipal Commissioner (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chand Chaudhury said on Saturday.
Since a link from outside the state had been establish, there was no need to panic about local transmission, he said.
The commissioner, however, said that active surveillance and contact tracing will continue in Bomikhal, which has been declared as a ‘containment zone’, to check possible community transmission of the infection.
