Rairangpur: A father-son duo had been languishing in jail for two and half months for a murder which they never committed. They were acquitted in the case on Saturday after police traced the ‘murdered’ woman.
According to police sources, Sanjay Nayak and his father Mangala Nayak of Badampahada in Mayurbhanj district were arrested after body of a woman was recovered from a nearby forest. The body was suspected to be that of Sanjay’s wife, Raimani Bankira, who had gone missing.
They were then lodged at Rairangpur sub-jail.
However, police found that the Raimani was alive and detained her for interrogation. Following which, court acquitted Sanjay and his father in the case.
