Khurda: A man and his son died after being hit by a lightning strike in the middle of Chilika Lake in Odisha’s Khurda district.
The victims have been identified as Bidhan Biswas and his son Uttam Biswas from the Baliguda area in the district.
According to sources, the incident took place when Bidhan and Uttam had gone to Chilika Lake on Sunday night for fishing. The bodies were recovered near Kalijugeswar hill inside the lake near Balugoan in Khurda district on Monday.
When the two did not return home on Sunday night, the family members tried to trace them. However, they were unable to trace them in the night. They launched a search operation and located their bodies in a boat near Kalijugeswar hills on Monday morning.
A pall of gloom has descended on the village after the incident. Notably, Uttam’s wife had delivered a baby girl child yesterday, but the family was shattered following the tragedy.
