Baripada: The police have arrested the youth who had allegedly shot dead his father following a property dispute at a village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
Speaking to media persons, Kaptipada sub-divisional police officer Sarthak Ray said they received information about alleged murder of an old man in Kashikundal village under Udala police station of the district on Tuesday night. A police team led by sub-inspector Sarat Kumar Jena along with a scientific team went to the spot for investigation.
From preliminary investigation, the police team could know that the victim’s son Kailash Naik had shot him dead with a country-made gun following a heated argument with his father on Tuesday night and was absconding.
Following further investigation and enquiry from the villagers, the police arrested Kailash from a forest near Badasahi on Wednesday night. The accused confessed to have committed the crime during interrogation.
On getting more details about the case, the police took Kailash to the village and recreated the scene at the crime spot. The accused narrated to the team how he committed the murder at the scene. Later, he was forwarded to the court, the SDPO said.
