Puri: The Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain closed for four hours on Thursday for ‘Banakalagi’ ritual of the Lords. The temple doors will be shut from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm.
Notably, devotees had to face problems after the temple administration sent out wrong information about the ritual, stating that it would be held from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm on Wednesday.
Since the ritual will be held today, the temple will remain out of bounds for devotees for four hours.
“The sacred ritual of ‘Banakalagi’ will be performed after the Dwitiya Bhogamandapa. No devotees will be allowed inside the temple,” informed the temple administration. Dutta Mohapatra Sevakas generally perform this ritual.
A similar faux pas was reported a few day earlier when the date and time of a ritual had to be postponed by a day. This had led to confusion among the devotees and they could not get darshan of the sibling deities.
