Bhubaneswar: In order to moderate the market prices of wheat and rice in Odisha, the Central government has decided to sell the surplus stocks of the produce through Food Corporation of India (FCI).
According to a release of regional office of FCI in Bhubaneswar, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has taken the decision for sale of the surplus stocks of wheat and rice through FCI under Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) by e-auction in the open market.
As per recent tender floated by FCI, 21,200 tonne of wheat and 10,000 tonne of rice have been offered for e-auction from 17 centres of FCI’s Odisha region. The sale of wheat and rice under the scheme will be carried out every week by FCI to release the foodgrain through small and bulk traders.
