Washington: Children worldwide may be at a lower risk of getting severely affected by COVID-19 but protection is safer feel parents. Considering this, vaccine companies across the globe are working on vaccines for children.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory panel, USA has unanimously recommended a lower dose of Pfizer and BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11.
Once cleared, 28 million more kids in the US will be protected against the virus as the delta variant spreads.
The Joe Biden administration said it plans to distribute the doses as soon as it’s authorised by FDA and CDC, which is expected to come early next month, stated reports in CNBC.
Meanwhile, the administration is stated to be ready and has reportedly procured enough vaccine to inoculate all 28 million children in 5 to 11 age group.
