Balasore: Three youths died by drowning after being swept away at Tribeni ghat while taking bath in Budhabalanga river in Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Ankit Pati, Piyush Pratyush and Mrutunjoy Mishra of Kadamsahi under Nilagiri NAC.
According to sources, Ankit, Ranjan Kumar Sala, Piyush, Mrutunjoy and Jyotrimaya Das reached Chandipur this morning. After having food, they went to the ghat for a bath.
Ankit, Piyush and Mrutunjoy accidentally fell into deep water. Ranjan and Jyotrimaya tried to rescue them but in vain. They then reached the river bank and informed the locals, who fished out the body of Ankit.
Fire Service personnel also reached the spot. A team of NDRF personnel also launched a rescue operation on the orders of the Balasore collector. Bodies of Piyush and Mrutunjoy were traced and recovered late in the night and early next morning.
